Waiting?

Updated: Nov 16, 2021

Waiting is something that is difficult for most. Some may say, “have patience”, others may say “God knows best”, others may say “He will not give you more than you can bear” and so many other ‘encouraging’ words, that in the moment, can feel so discouraging.

The truth is, all of what our good intentioned friends say, is true. But, does it help when your soul sits in sorrow, in what we consider a barren place or the wilderness season? The answer is truthfully, no. I have been reading literature that helped me understand more of the purpose/s of seasons such as this. At the writing of this post, I’m still in the ‘wilderness season’ waiting on God for all He has promised. I chose to write now, because we often hear people reference the wilderness season from the other side, ‘the promise land’. While I am in this season, in the midst of years of waiting, praying, crying, shouting, fasting, numbness and when there are no words, silence, I will tell you this, I have never been closer to the Father than I am now. I have never been more honest with Him, as I have now. Do I complain? Honestly, I do, but I complain to Him, not to others.

In this season there are some things I know,

  • God is faithful,

  • He gives unexplainable peace in the midst of the dryness,

  • He comes to my rescue when I desperately need a refreshing, and

  • when I can’t hear Him, He sends reinforcement, through a friend, a video, a post or even a dream.

Friends, God is faithful, even in the midst of the wait. Look around you, what has HE given to you today, that lets you know I AM here. Did someone call? Did you see a post like this one? Did you think of something that made you smile, that is the Holy Spirit letting you know, child I AM here, trust Me.

I leave you with this, Galatians 6:9 (NIV) says let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. I will not emphasize at the proper time, but I will emphasize we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Time and harvest are cousins, they are related, you don’t get to one without going through the other, but if you make up your mind to NEVER give up, THEN you will make it through the time. So friends, do not give up, do not give in, do not let go until you see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13). Whether you are waiting for healing, the fruit of the womb, marriage, a job, financial breakthrough or just an opportunity in your life, DO NOT GIVE UP. Friends, understand this, the enemy will not want you to receive the answer to the fervent prayer of your heart according to God’s will or the promise of God, there is too much purpose attached to that. Do not give up, do not faint.
